The Disappearance of Sabrina Aisenberg

5 month old Sabrina Aisenberg was last seen in Valrico, Florida on November 24, 1997. She disappeared from her crib sometime during the early morning hours.

Disappearance

During the early morning hours of November 24, 1997, Sabrina Aisenberg vanished from her crib at her home in Valrico, Florida. Her handmade yellow blanket is also missing.

Sabrina’s parents, Marlene and Steve Aisenberg, say they woke up around 6:30 am and found her missing. According to Marlene, Sabrina was sound asleep in her crib when she checked on her around midnight.

Investigation

According to Sabrina’s parents, the garage door and an interior door leading into the home were both found wide open when they woke up.

When authorities arrived at the Aisenberg residence, they found a boot print in Sabrina’s room and a blonde hair in her crib that didn’t belong to anyone in the family. They did not find any signs of forced entry.

Sabrina’s parents have never been charged in connection with her disappearance, but were charged with making false statements to law enforcement in 1999.

Court documents reveal that authorities had bugged the Aisenberg home following Sabrina’s disappearance, and allegedly heard conversations between the couple where Steve talked about killing Sabrina while high on cocaine.

A judge ruled the transcripts inaudible and taken out of context. In 2001, prosecutors dropped the charges before the trial began.

In 2003, an appeals court ordered the federal government to pay the Aisenberg’s attorney’s nearly $1.5M in legal fees.

No one has ever been charged in connection with Sabrina’s disappearance, and authorities have not named any suspects. Her parents believe she was kidnapped by someone who wanted to raise her as their own.

Appearance

Sabrina has brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of her disappearance she was 30 inches tall and weighed 20 pounds. She has a birthmark on the back of her shoulder in the shape of a Y.

Sabrina was wearing a lavender one piece sleeper with a floral pattern and was wrapped in her blue and yellow handmade blanket with yellow piping that is decorated with animals.
